Skil 1/2-in Hammer Drill Model #: 6445-02

Now this is the third Skil brand tools I’ve owned. Not all of their stuff is good, for the exception of their circular saws, especially their high end worm gear circular saws which are great; most of the stuff they make is about average intended for the DIYer. The reviews for this Hammer Drill are mixed; all I can say is that it has worked great for me.

I've installed all of the Hurricane Shutters, windows and patio doors on my house using this drill. That’s well over 200 holes in a year, and I have not had any issues with it, except the silver paint on the front housing is rubbing off. Besides that, which is really not an issue to me, it been working flawlessly up to now.

One of the complaints I've seen online is that people claim the chuck loosens up to easily. Well most people know that you have to tighten a chuck one key hole at a time, and each concurrent hole tightens the drill bit more. There was also someone else complaining that his began to burn and smoke up when he was mixing a bag of mud. Well this tool was not meant for that, there are larger stronger, better geared drills meant for that job, If you abuse your tool you will break it, its as simple as that. Now this is not a high end tool, but for 50 bucks, it will fit my bill.
