The Dewalt Max 1/4 in. 12 volt Cordless Impact Driver (tool only) Model # DCF815S2

I recently purchased a Dewalt Max 1/4 in. 12 volt Cordless Impact Driver on Ebay for 45 dollars. Its' amazing, especially at that price. Here are the specs.

Generates up to 950 foot pounds of torque for fastening  applications, and delivers up to 3,400 Impacts per minute (IPM) for driving power, with a maximum speed of 2,450 RPM. It has a contoured handle design for a sure grip feel, and one handed loading 1/4 inch hex chuck accepts 1 inch bit tips. It comes with 3 LED lights that offer visibility without shadows, and a belt hook included for portability.

I can tell you this tool feels like it has as much power as my old Ryobi 18 volt impact drill, with half the weight. I tested it with 10 x 3 Yellow Zinc Plated wood screws on a piece of 4 x 4 lumber and the Dewalt Impact Driver drove them in like butter. It feels great in my hand, and the flat battery bottom is great for setting it down on a counter. It also has rubber pads on the each side of the motor housing so if you lay it down on its side it will not damage the surface you’re working on.

Battery charging time is around 40 minutes, which are better the old Ni-Cads that use to take up to an hour to charge. But the biggest factor is the weight, I don’t even feel it in my hand it’s so light. Now it’s not as lightweight as other Milwaukee, and Bosch 12 volt tools I own. But it feels feels good in my hand. I have already used it to installing 3 inch Tapcon concrete screws on my windows, and it did a great job. I installed 3 windows, with an average of 10 screws per window, 3 on top, 3 on the bottom, and two on each side, before I needed a charge. Now I’m using the batteries that came with my used Dewalt 12-Volt Max 3/8 inch Cordless Drill Driver kit that I purchased from Lowes for 20 dollars, (It had a burned out motor I had it repaired under warranty).  They are great and hold a good charge, with no loss of power until the very end. The 3 LED lights shine down on whatever you are working on with no shadow, unlike my Dewalt 12 volt drill driver. Just like the other 12 volt Dewalt I reviewed the battery has a power level meter on it.

I recommend, this Impact driver to the home do-it-yourselfer, and even someone working on air-conditioning ducts in an attic like a friend of mine does for a living and use the same kit.
